Real Madrid are already preparing for the post-Alvaro Arbeloa era. Among the avenues mentioned, that of Walid Regragui intrigues and fuels debates in Spain.

Real Madrid is experiencing a delicate end to the season. Eliminated in the Champions League and the Copa del Rey, left behind in La Liga by FC Barcelona, the White House is heading towards an exercise without a trophy. A situation that is difficult to accept for Florentino Pérez, who should make a change of coach this summer in place of Alvaro Arbeloa.

Behind the scenes, several profiles are being studied to revive the Madrid management. The return of José Mourinho is one of the serious avenues, supported internally, while the Jürgen Klopp option also appeals to certain club executives. But a more unexpected name has entered the discussions in recent days: that of Walid Regragui.

The former Morocco coach enjoys a high rating in Spain since his historic run during the 2022 Fifa World Cup, marked in particular by a semi-final and a notable victory against La Roja. His work and his management are particularly appreciated on the other side of the Pyrenees.

A credible but secondary lead

According to journalist Joaquín Maroto, Real Madrid would look very positively on the Moroccan technician. His ability to unite a group, establish strong cohesion and instill a combative state of mind would not have escaped Madrid’s decision-makers.

However, this track remains secondary today. Free since the end of his adventure with the Moroccan selection, Walid Regragui has attracted the interest of several projects, without any materializing for the moment. If his profile is appreciated in Madrid, he is not at the top of the list at this stage, even if his name continues to circulate internally.
