Three days before the end of the championship (4 for Brest, Strasbourg, Lens and PSG), destinies are beginning to take shape and trajectories to become clearer… just like the debates around individual rewards which are now becoming a little clearer. Like every season, the UNFP has revealed the names of all the nominees in its different categories.
Crowned “best player in Ligue 1” last year, will Ballon d’Or Ousmane Dembélé win a new trophy? He will still have competition this year including his teammates Vitinha and Nuno Mendes. Mason Greenwood is present as is Florian Thauvin from RC Lens. A good list even if some have already pointed out the absence of Corentin Tolisso or Esteban Lepaul.
Luis Enrique or Pierre Sage for the best coach?
Among the technicians selected for the “best coach of the season” trophy, Luis Enrique is obviously a candidate for his own succession. His Lens counterpart Pierre Sage will also have arguments to put forward, while RC Lens is having a historic season at all levels. We also find the Lyonnais Paulo Fonseca or the Lorient Olivier Pantaloni and the Lille Bruno Genesio.
In the category of “best goalkeeper in Ligue 1”, Lensois Robin Risser is named, as are Rennes Brice Samba and Lyonnais Dominik Greif. Note the absence of Safonov who is not eligible since he has played less than 15 Ligue 1 matches. Like last season, Ayyoub Bouaddi is applying in the “best prospect in Ligue 1” category. The Lille player will be in competition with last year’s winner, Désiré Doué, but also Joao Neves, Warren Zaire-Emery and… Barco from RC Strasbourg. In the additional category reserved for “best French player playing abroad”, Kylian Mbappé could triumph again. The Madrilenian will compete with the Bavarian Michael Olise, Rayan Cherki, Hugo Ekitike and William Saliba.
