The 2026 Champions Trophy will be played a few days before the start of Ligue 1, in mid-August, in a stadium in France, perhaps in the stadium of one of the two participating clubs.

After PSG’s 14th coronation at the Champions Trophy on January 8 against OM (2-2, tab: 4-1), in Kuwait, the 2026 Champions Trophy is announced for next Saturday, August 15 or Sunday, August 16, the weekend preceding the opening of the next Ligue 1 season. The match between the 2026 French champions (PSG is six points ahead of RC Lens) to the winner of the Coupe de France (RC Lens is in the final against OGC Nice) will be played in France.

Like last year, Ivory Coast applied to host the next Champions Trophy, but the feedback was not all positive after the Women’s League Cup final between OL and PSG last March in Abidjan. According to
The Teamthe LFP board of directors took into account the stomach aches of several Lyon players during the trip to Ivory Coast. The League does not want to take any risks when the potential semi-finalists of the 2026 World Cup will have only had three weeks of respite.

The Champions Trophy at home?

As RMC indicates, it is the two clubs concerned which must agree on the location of the meeting and, in the event of disagreement, the LFP reserves the right to draw lots between the solutions favored by the clubs. PSG may very well ask to play in its Parc des Princes, as in January 2024 against Toulouse.

Since 2009, the Champions Trophy has been accustomed to relocating. The match was played in North America (Montreal and New York), in Africa (Rades, Tangier, Libreville) in China three times and in Israel twice, as well as in Qatar in 2024.
