Bayern turns on the Parisian players

The sporting director of Bayern Munich hardly appreciated the scenes of joy from the Parisian camp when PSG led 5-2 in the second half.

The incredible first round between PSG and Bayern Munich sometimes took on the appearance of a roller coaster for both camps. After starting the match in favor of the Germans, the capital club seemed to take an almost definitive advantage in qualifying by up to three goals in the second half. But that was without counting on a surge from the German champions, who found the resources to come back to 5-4.

Branded with a hot iron by the totally crazy scenario of this first round, the Germans wanted to be confident at the end of the meeting and were already meeting the Parisians for the return match.

“There is always something special that can happen at home. There will be 75,000 people, an atmosphere of fire, a noise, a mass, explained Vincent Kompany after havingsure not to have been particularly worried when PSG led 5-2. IThey will come to us and we will give everything until we die if necessary. But we are waiting for them and we want this match. It’s football, I’m not too defeatist, I see reality head on. It’s 1-0 for PSG, so we have to win. At least things are clear. »

“They celebrated as if they were already in the final”

Max Erbel, the sports director, was just as positive and also criticized the attitude of the Parisians when they were three goals ahead. “After the 5-2, the Paris players celebrated as if they were already in the final. We managed to come back and we will have to win at the Allianz Arena,” he said while Joshua Kimmich assured that the Munich residents never panicked.

“You all saw what happened here after the 5-2. We were on the ground and we asked ourselves: but what is going on here? Because we were in no way three goals worse, he explained. It was therefore important to remain calm. This type of situation is delicate: should we risk everything to come back to the score or try to avoid the worst? »
