To replace the former full-back as coach, Florentino Pérez would think of José Mourinho, according to The Athletic. “He is Florentino Pérez’s preferred candidate to become the head coach of Real Madrid. Support is not universal within the club, but the president drives the process. So this 63-year-old contender is a serious contender”wrote on X David Ornstein, correspondent for this media.
The “Special One” is currently linked to Benfica Lisbon until June 2027. The Portuguese technician would have a release clause of around three million euros in his contract.
Mourinho, return to Real Madrid 13 years later?
José Mourinho was the coach of Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013. With the Spanish club, he expanded his record by winning a La Liga (2012), two Spanish Cups (2011, 2013) and a Spanish Super Cup (2012).
On the other hand, the man, now 63 years old, did not manage to win the Champions League during his time at the “Casa Blanca”. At the time, it had failed at the semi-final stage every year, against FC Barcelona in 2011, Bayern Munich in 2012 and Borussia Dortmund in 2013.
