The type of case that is becoming commonplace in England. While the transfer of Lucas Paqueta to Manchester City has been called into question due to suspicious sports betting directly involving the Brazilian, a new scandal has just broken out across the Channel. According to DailyMailDean Snedker and Lewis Wilson, two former teammates of Ivan Toney at Northampton Town (currently in League Two) are under investigation by the Federation Association (FA) for potential sports betting offences.

The British tabloid reports that the two players are suspected by the FA of having placed more than 1,200 bets on matches between March 2017 and October 2022. FA investigators have allegedly discovered telephone recordings revealing conversations between them and this in the continuity of the investigation carried out with regard to the attacker of Brentford. As a reminder, the England international has been suspended for 8 months from all football-related activity for his involvement in a dubious sports betting affair.
