ESTAC returns to Ligue 1, ASSE forced to be patient

ASSE suffered the law of ESTAC this Saturday during the shock at the top of the 32nd day of Ligue 2 (0-3). With the key for Troyes being an official return to the elite!

It’s official, ESTAC is back in the elite! This Saturday evening, thanks to a clear success on the pitch of Saint-Etienne (0-3), the Trojans validated their ticket for Ligue 1 next season.

Leaders of Ligue 2 at the kick-off of this poster of the 32nd round, the Aubois ruled the roost in the Chaudron thanks to Ifnaoui (53rd), Bentayeb (89th) and Detourbet (90th+6), thus pushing back their hosts of the day, third, by seven lengths.

Two days before the end of the championship, Troyes is therefore guaranteed to finish in one of the first two places, and probably champion since Le Mans, second in the standings, is six points behind, with an unfavorable goal difference (+17 against +24).

For the Greens, promotion to L1 is still far from being achieved. The Stéphanois could indeed be called upon to compete in the play-offs if they fail to overtake Manceaux. With other challengers being teams such as Red Star, Reims, Rodez, Montpellier and Annecy.
