A Moroccan international could join Manchester City in the coming months.

A few months ago, Azzedine Ounahi seemed completely out of the plans of Olympique de Marseille. Revealed to the general public during the 2022 World Cup with Morocco, the 26-year-old midfielder had never managed to establish himself sustainably on the Canebière.

Loaned last season to Panathinaikos, he regained rhythm and a central role, to the point of being voted best player of the season. But despite this return to form, his future has not shifted to Marseille. After a long series, his departure was finally confirmed in the last hours of the transfer window, with a signing in Girona.

In a difficult sporting context, the Catalan club is struggling at the bottom of the table, but the former Angers SCO player quickly established himself there. A regular starter, Ounahi has put together a string of solid performances and established himself as one of the most consistent elements of his team, enough to attract the attention of several European big names.

A mutual interest

According to the Spanish press, Manchester City is closely monitoring its situation, with a view to anticipating the post-Bernardo Silva era. Information confirmed by El Chiringuitowhich evokes a serious track facilitated by the structure of the City Football Group, to which Girona belongs.

Always according to El Chiringuitothe Moroccan midfielder is also attracting the interest of Atlético de Madrid as well as several Serie A teams. But internally, the player would have a clear preference for a project led by Manchester City, considered the most attractive at this stage.
