A star Serie A player has broken his silence after his name was cited among those implicated in Italy’s prostitution scandal.

This Monday, the Italian press reported a terrible scandal in the country. A vast network of clandestine parties, mixing prostitution and drug consumption, was reportedly dismantled by the Milanese justice system. These, intended for wealthy clients including no less than seventy footballers, are said to have illicitly generated more than 1.2 million euros.

The day after the arrest of the four people suspected of being at the head of the organization, the daily Il Giornale revealed the names of several players, most of them playing for AC Milan, Inter Milan or Juventus Turin, identified by investigators during telephone tapping. Among them are Achraf Hakimi, Olivier Giroud, Jérémy Ménez and Rafael Leao.

The Portuguese then wanted to respond to the accusations of the transalpine newspaper, which indicated in its article that none of the names cited were the subject of prosecution, given that no crime had then been committed with regard to justice.

Rafael Leao: “I have not committed any crime”

“In recent days, my name, like that of other footballers, has been mentioned on websites, social networks and in newspapers as part of an investigation carried out by the Milan public prosecutor’s office”initially recalls the Milanese attacker, through a long message published on
Instagram. “I would like to clarify that I have absolutely nothing to do with the facts that are the subject of this investigation. I am not involved and I have not committed any crime”he continues.

“I urge everyone to refrain from associating my name with this situation in an arbitrary or superficial manner, without regard for the truth or respect for privacy. Before being footballers, we are people who have a family and a reputation”he said afterwards, calling on his lawyer to “to defend against any person who continues to disseminate false or harmful information” to his reputation.
