Postponed on March 14 while PSG was in the middle of a double confrontation with Chelsea in the round of 16 of the Champions League, the match between Paris and FC Nantes took place this Wednesday (3-0, 26th day). At the Parc des Princes, Luis Enrique’s men did not miss the opportunity to gain three precious points in the fight for the title of champion of France which they are engaged in with RC Lens.
With a squad still partially reshuffled, Paris did not let the people of Nantes believe it for long. It was first Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who opened the scoring with a fairly generous penalty awarded by Mr. Turpin and the video, after a ball hit the arm of a Nantes player in his area (1-0, 13th). Fate then fell hard on the visitors who thought they would equalize less than ten minutes later, but the VAR intervened again to their disadvantage to signal an offside by Louis Leroux (22nd).
On the Parisian side, the machine restarted and Désiré Doué doubled the lead, after a good service from Achraf Hakimi (2-0, 37th). Enough to reach the locker room with an already comfortable lead. And quickly after the restart, it was again that devil of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who scored his double (3-0, 50th).
No Nantes miracle against PSG
One blow too many for the Canaries who will never manage to come back to score, or even save their honor. For Paris, the accounting operation is perfect. Although it is still at the top of the standings, it is now four points ahead of Racing Club de Lens, its first pursuer.
For Nantes, there was no miracle and the gap of five points between it and Auxerre, 16th and a barrier for maintenance, is still there. Next match for Vahid Halilhodzić’s men (present in the stands after his four-match suspension), this Sunday in Rennes (5:15 p.m.). PSG travels to Angers on Saturday (7 p.m.).
