Italy clearly didn’t need this. Just a few weeks after the trauma of the new elimination of the Nazionale in the World Cup play-offs, transalpine football is shaken by a new affair, revealed in recent days.
A prostitution network, involving numerous footballers, is being dismantled. The police arrested several suspects, charged with particularly serious charges, including complicity and exploitation of prostitution, as well as money laundering.
Among the clients of this network run by a certain Emmanuele Buttini and his partner Deborah Ronchi, we would find around 70 footballers, mainly players who have played for the two Milan clubs. Their names were not initially revealed. This has now been done since Wednesday.
Giroud and Hakimi in the names that stand out
Il Giornale thus draws up a list of footballers who would have used the services of the Buttini-Ronchi duo, or participated in evenings where there were escort girls and laughing gas balloons. We find the name of Olivier Giroud, as well as those of Jérémy Ménez, Rafael Leao, Achraf Hakimi and even Milan Skriniar. There is everything, old ones like Dejan Stankovic, or younger ones like Daniel Maldini.
A priori, the players in question risk nothing. Resorting to prostitution, as a client, is not a crime in Italy. However, the names mentioned allow us to know a little more about the scale of this dark affair which is affecting Italian football.
