Revealed and launched two seasons ago by Luis Enrique, the very young Ibrahim Mbaye has gradually made a name for himself in the Parisian squad. At just 18 years old, he had fully earned his place in the Spanish coach’s rotation, even to the point of quickly making his debut with the Senegalese selection with a remarkable CAN 2025.
But now, since his return from CAN, the young Parisian winger has gradually disappeared from the radar. Before the competition, he had played 19 out of 25 possible matches with Paris. Since his return from CAN, he has only appeared 6 times (out of 17 matches). Summoned, he no longer entered the rotation and was content with a few crumbs. Worse still, since the last rally in March with Senegal, Ibrahim Mbaye has not played a single minute with PSG. Replacing the entire match against Toulouse, he did not set foot on the pitch for a single second during PSG’s double confrontation against Liverpool. He thus played only 190 minutes in 2026.
A choice by Luis Enrique
A situation which could leave room for doubts about a slight malaise at PSG. This Sunday morning, the doubt was entirely removed since Ibrahim Mbaye is not even in the Parisian group for the reception of OL. Although he was never mentioned in a club medical report to explain this absence, some still gave him the benefit of the doubt. But journalist Fabrizio Romano quickly put an end to the suspense.
According to information from the Italian journalist, Ibrahim Mbaye was indeed dismissed by Luis Enrique. The Spanish coach decided to do without him for this meeting and it is therefore a purely sporting choice. Enough to clearly relaunch the subject around his future in the capital since the young Senegalese has been in the sights of several Premier League clubs in recent weeks. We should know more in the days to come, but Ibrahim Mbaye’s situation at PSG has deteriorated at high speed.
