Frank Lampard made no secret of his emotion after leading Coventry City to a historic rise to the Premier League, 25 years after the club’s last appearance in the top flight. At the end of the draw won on the pitch at Blackburn (1-1), validated by Bobby Thomas’ late equalizer, the English coach returned to an adventure which he already considers to be one of the most significant of his career. Facing the media, Lampard let his emotions speak in a very personal speech: “I’m proud. Sometimes all the coaches only talk about the players, but I’m proud, and I’m proud of myself, the staff and the boys. »

The former Chelsea and Everton coach then insisted on the human and collective dimension of this success: “so this is one of my greatest accomplishments. I was lucky enough to be part of some great Chelsea teams. Winning the Champions League and the national championships was incredible. Sometimes I could thank Didier Drogba or John Terry for that. » Now he believes that this return to the Premier League with Coventry, in this particular context, rivals the greatest achievements of his career as a player and manager.
