Arne Slot’s strong words towards Ekitike after his injury

This is the terrible news of the week. Out with an injury during the Champions League quarter-final return leg against PSG, Hugo Ekitike is out for the end of the season, after an Achilles heel injury. If he will not be able to participate in the 2026 World Cup with the Blues, this is also the case in the Premier League with Liverpool (5th). Furthermore, his coach, Arne Slot, took the time to address him with quite touching words at a press conference this Friday.

“He hasn’t had surgery yet. It’s a big blow for him, because he had to join a new club and make an immediate impact. He was playing against his former club in the Champions League and the summer looked promising” he initially indicated, before continuing. “My first thought is of his long absence and the important moments he will miss. He is neither the first nor the last to experience this. Many players came back even stronger: that’s the challenge.
