Enzo Fernández’s recent statements about his attraction to Madrid did not fail to provoke a reaction in England. Former Chelsea midfielder Obi Mikel did not hesitate to openly criticize the Argentinian, believing that his words betrayed a lack of commitment to the London club. “This is Chelsea, not a stepping stone to another team. If your heart is already in Madrid, you shouldn’t wear the blue jersey. At Chelsea, we played for the coat of arms, not for a future transfer…”he declared according to A.S.recalling the priority that he considers essential for any player playing at the club.
At the same time, the Spanish press continues to link Fernández with a move to La Liga. According to MarcaReal Madrid would see him as a priority over Rodri, the Manchester City midfielder, to strengthen their team next season. The Argentine midfielder, vice-captain at Chelsea and currently closely watched on the market, could therefore be at the center of a battle between displayed commitment and personal ambitions, with Madrid in the crosshairs.
