The tension rose a notch around Torino, currently 15th. In the middle of a bad season in Serie A, marked by a series of disappointing results and a game considered insufficient, a small group of supporters crossed a symbolic limit by leaving excrement in front of the club’s training center. This shock gesture comes in an already heavy climate, while the Italian coach, Marco Baroni, was recently sacked in an attempt to stop the negative spiral. Despite this change on the bench, the protest does not weaken, a sign of a deeper unease within the Granata environment.

The anger mainly targets the management and in particular the president Urbano Cairo, accused by some of the fans of a lack of sporting ambition and insufficient investments. Supporters criticize management for management deemed too cautious, which keeps the club in the soft underbelly of the championship without any real European perspective. This new episode of protest illustrates the growing divide between a section of fans and the Turin leaders, in a context where the identity and historical ambitions of Torino seem, in the eyes of the protesters, to be undermined.
