Courted by Morocco and France, 18-year-old midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi saw his international future become clearer this Thursday.

Which national team will Ayyoub Bouaddi choose to represent? The question still has no answer this Thursday, March 19. While Morocco and France unveiled their respective lists on the sidelines of the preparation matches, three months before the start of the 2026 World Cup, the Lille midfielder does not appear in any of them.

The decision seems not yet to have been made on his side regarding a first meeting with the Atlas Lions or the Blues. “It’s a decision he has to make.”explained their new coach Mohamed Ouahbi. “We offered him the plan, the project. I don’t think there’s anything negative but we shouldn’t pressure the players either. »

Same story, or almost, with Didier Deschamps, when his group was announced earlier in the day. “I saw that Bouaddi was not selected by Morocco. He has this freedom to choose, I’m not going to take it away from him. (…) Obviously, we follow its performance but there is very strong competition. »

Bouaddi with the France Espoirs team

In the meantime, Ayyoub Bouaddi has officially been called up by Gérald Baticle with the France Espoirs team in order to participate in the two Euro Espoirs qualifying matches, against Luxembourg (March 26) and Iceland (March 30).

The Lille player will have the opportunity to honor his ninth selection, and will find well-known names in Europe, such as Senny Mayulu, Éli Junior Kroupi, Mathys Tel and Leny Yoro.
