Kick-off of the 29th day of the Premier League this evening with 4 matches on the program. Liverpool notably went to Wolverhampton to try to record a 4th consecutive victory in the league. On paper, the Reds started with the status of favorites, on the pitch too, but they were divided for a long time in the defense of the red lantern. Worse still, despite a plethora of opportunities, they conceded the first goal of the evening from Gomes (1-0, 78th), against the run of play.
Mohamed Salah’s 5th goal in the Premier League this season quickly put the Scousers back on level terms (1-1, 83rd) but it was the victory that was needed. Van Dijk had the opportunity to give his team the advantage, only for his header to end up in the arms of José Sa. In the process, André benefited from a bad restart to deceive Allison with a deflected shot (2-1, 90th+4) and offer his team a second consecutive victory. Retention is still very far away (13 points behind the first non-relegation place) but the Wolves have a new name on their list, while the Reds, 5th, are under threat from Chelsea.
The results of the evening’s matches:
Bournemouth 0 – 0 Brentford
Everton 2 – 0 Burnley: Tarkowski (32nd), Dewsbury-Hall (60th)
Leeds 0 – 1 Sunderland : Diarra (sp 70th)
Wolverhampton 2 – 1 Liverpool: Gomes (78th), André (90th+4); Salah (83rd)
