The FC Barcelona electoral campaign is unleashing passions among our Spanish neighbors. The various candidates for this presidential election – the members will vote on March 15 – are making a series of media appearances and are already making campaign promises to convince the members to give them their vote. For the moment, the debates are structured around two strong points. First, the arrival of a future striker, with the names of Harry Kane and Erling Haaland which were mentioned by the candidates during their media interventions.

The other big issue, in addition to the galactic recruit of the attack, is none other than Lionel Messi. The candidates want to curry favor with the Argentinian and know that a return of the club legend in an administrative or honorary role can help them win. But for the moment, the main person concerned does not seem to want to get involved in these elections and would even be very annoyed by the use of his name by the candidates.

An unlikely departure

But another name could prove decisive in these Barcelona elections. It’s Luis Enrique, the coach of PSG, and above all a former player and coach of the Catalan team, where he is still very popular. As indicated Catalunya Radiohis name should soon be pronounced by one or more candidates, who will present him as the coach of their project to lead Barça to the top. If Joan Laporta wants to continue with the Flick-Deco pair, other candidates could be tempted to bring in a new coach, and Lucho would be a strong argument in their candidacy.

Information which may surprise, especially since the trend is clearly towards an extension in Paris, while his current lease expires in 2027. PSG is ready to do anything to keep him, with a staff delighted to have him on the sidelines, while the Spaniard would be very happy on the side of the French capital. In this context, it is difficult to imagine Luis Enrique giving his agreement to a candidate, but who knows, his love for FC Barcelona could change things…
