The stars version of Paris Saint-Germain is now a thing of the past. For two seasons, the Parisian club had brought together a spectacular attacking trio composed of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar. An association that was a dream on paper and which has largely contributed to the marketing influence of PSG throughout the world. However, despite this XXL casting, the sporting results have not always lived up to expectations, particularly on the European scene.

Arriving in Paris in the summer of 2022, Vitinha worked alongside this trio for two seasons. In an interview given to Channel 11the Portuguese midfielder recognized the immense talent of the three attackers, while explaining that their simultaneous presence was not always ideal for the collective balance of the team.

“Players who don’t run”

“They are among the best players in the history of football”first conceded the former Porto player. But he then qualified: “You can’t afford to have one, two or three players not running. It’s not always what’s best for the team. This is what makes the difference with the current PSG”he analyzed.

The Parisian midfielder particularly praised the attitude of the current attackers, who are much more involved in pressing. “Today, you see a (Ousmane) Dembélé or a Gonçalo (Ramos) pressing at the entrance to the area and being the first to defend in the opposing camp”he explained. A statement which may not please the former stars of the club.
