Manchester City said on Tuesday that Pep Guardiola had back surgery. The English club have specified that their coach will return around mid-September.
The secret had been well kept and the information only came out on Tuesday. Suffering from his back for some time, Pep Guardiola returned to Barcelona in recent days to undergo an operation. Manchester City issued a statement to confirm that all went well and that their manager should now observe a recovery period. The Spaniard’s return is expected to come in the second half of September.
In its press release, City clarified that Pep Guardiola was suffering ” severe back pain“, this having pushed him to pass on the billiards to undergo” emergency surgery. The operation was a success and Pep will now recover and undergo a rehabilitation period at Barcelona. During his absence, the winner of the last Champions League with Manchester City will be replaced by his deputy, Juanma Lillo.
Pep Guardiola has today undergone a routine operation on a back problem.
