Kylian Mbappé’s future at Paris Saint-Germain has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks, in what is arguably the saga of the summer.
The 24-year-old was transferred by PSG after refusing to sign a new contract and was kicked out of the first team. However, he returned to the fold this week and played (and scored) on Saturday.
It looks like Mbappé has changed his mind about signing a new contract, with multiple reports in England indicating that a verbal agreement has been reached with PSG for an extension.
Mbappe’s current deal expires next summer but he could now extend it for a year or two, although a 2024 departure is guaranteed, under a clause reportedly included in the deal. PSG would thus avoid losing it for free.
Real Madrid are still interested in signing the French star, although they were hoping to get him for free next summer. It remains to be seen whether he will still try to sign him if a transfer fee is demanded.
