The England striker has been in great form this season and could be keen to experience a new league whilst remaining at the top of his game. Kane is considering the possibility of a contract extension with the Bavarian club, but his future remains uncertain.
Kane, priority target of FC Barcelona
Under contract with Bayern until June 2027, Kane has a release clause which would allow him to leave the club for just £57 million (€65 million) next summer. There is no doubt that several major European clubs will be in the running to secure the services of this prolific scorer, and FC Barcelona is one of the favorites.
FC Barcelona will need a new striker to lead their attack if Robert Lewandowski leaves the club at the end of his contract in June 2026. According to SPORT, Atlético Madrid’s Julian Alvarez is his priority, but his transfer from the Spanish capital to Catalonia could prove too costly. Manchester City’s Erling Haaland also appears to be out of financial reach for Barca, who are struggling financially.
The Catalan media report states that the club now sees Kane as a more viable option than potential young strikers. The club have drawn comparisons between England’s all-time top scorer and Lewandowski, who arrived on a free after several prolific seasons in Bavaria. The legendary Polish striker has enjoyed immense success at the Camp Nou and, despite being 37 years old, continues to score goals with great efficiency.
Like Lewandowski, Kane has never relied on his speed to score goals and could play at the highest level well into his old age. In this context, paying more than 50 million pounds for a 32-year-old striker still at the top of his form could prove to be an excellent investment, especially if the club manages to give him another four or five years of his career.
The race for Kane heats up.
FC Barcelona will face strong competition if they decide to recruit Kane. Premier League clubs will no doubt try to convince the striker to return to the Championship where he could yet break Alan Shearer’s record for most goals. Tottenham Hotspur dream of bringing back their former player from the north London academy, but if tensions and poor performances persist, it is unlikely that Spurs will be able to meet the salary and Champions League demands that Kane could demand.
