This Saturday at the end of the afternoon, Paris Saint-Germain welcomed OGC Nice to its lair at the Parc des Princes, on the occasion of the 11th day of Ligue 1. At the top of the standings, the Parisian team approached this meeting with the ambition of resuming its march forward after a draw against Lorient (1-1) on Wednesday, and to get ahead of its pursuers. For their part, Franck Haise’s men were hoping to secure a fourth consecutive victory and extend their series of five unbeaten matches in the league.
During most of the match, the Parisians were little worried by the Aiglons, who only had one real opportunity until the hour mark. The scare on the Parisian side came after the half hour mark, on a corner hit by Tom Louchet. Juma Bah, receiving at the far post, thought he would open the score before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia saved the ball on his line.
PSG wins at the end of the suspense
The French champions were enterprising, but without succeeding in breaking the Riviera barrier. In the 38th minute, after a poor recovery from Yehvann Diouf, Senny Mayulu, served by Kvaratskhelia, lost the ball before blocking an opposing clearance. The leather returned to Barcola’s feet, but his shot, too crushed, was captured by the Nice goalkeeper.
Finally, the Rouge et Bleu found the fault in added time. Gonçalo Ramos, who came on shortly before the last quarter of an hour, made the difference with a helmet strike from a Lee Kang-in corner, extended with a header by Kvaratskhelia (1-0, 90’+4). With this result, PSG maintains its lead over AS Monaco and Olympique de Marseille. OGC Nice, for its part, remains in the soft underbelly of the ranking and says goodbye to its series of invincibility.
