The OL is fixed. Sunday evening, Olympique Lyonnais scored a valuable victory against Strasbourg (2-1) at Groupama Stadium, during the 9th day of Ligue 1. A success marked, however, by the serious injury of Malick Fofana, taken out on a stretcher in the first period after a strong tackle from Ismaël Doukouré.

At a press conference, Paulo Fonseca's deputy showed concern. “He is having x-rays but for the moment, we don’t really know. Looking at the images, this is not very reassuring. The ankle, but perhaps also the tibia and fibula are affected. There is uncertainty and that is why he is taking exams”he indicated.

Not before 2026

The doubts were unfortunately confirmed today. OL published an official press release this Monday specifying the exact nature of Fofana's injury. “Examinations carried out overnight at the hospital, then confirmed today, revealed a serious sprain of the right ankle, accompanied by injuries most likely requiring surgical intervention”indicated the club.

The verdict is heavy: the Belgian international will be away from the field for “several months”. He will be absent for at least three months, we will not see him again before 2026, specifies
The Team. Terrible news for Olympique Lyonnais, as Fofana has established himself as the team's main offensive weapon since the start of the season.
