From the field to the microphone. Whether with Lille last season, at Borussia Dortmund or even at Paris Saint-Germain a few years ago, Thomas Meunier is a regular in the Champions League. If the Belgian full-back only knows the Europa League this season with Lille, he will still keep a close link with the C1.

Not as a player, but rather as a commentator. As explained DH Sportsthe Lille defender will officiate during the match between Union Saint-Gilloise and Inter Milan (this Tuesday, 9 p.m.) with Pickx+ Sports. A new appearance on the Belgian media, after having participated in the last Ballon d'Or ceremony.

It must be said that this is a promising collaboration, as the 34-year-old is known for his outspokenness and his legendary declarations. “I have never had my tongue in my pocket”he also confided to DH Sports.

“I have one more string to my bow”

“It’s true that this is quite simply an experience and a discovery and also an opportunity for me to get to know consultants and analysts who have a football career and who share the same passion as me. I have a lot of fun doing this,” explains Thomas Meunier.

What to anticipate a career as a journalist? Everything is possible. “ And as someone who likes to try everything, this obviously also gives me the impression that I have one more string to my bow and that, in the future, I could possibly work for a television channel. It could be an option, but I hope to play a few more years of football. I like doing this now because it's new too. It breaks up the monotony of training a little. But I'm not closing the door on anything at all and we'll see in a few years. »
