The Racing Club de Lens hosted Paris FC this Sunday. Pierre Sage's men had to work hard to get the better of the promoted Parisian and signed their fourth success of the season (2-1, 8th day of Ligue 1). The Sang et Or move up to fourth place in the championship while the PFC are eleventh.
This makes four days in a row without defeat for the Lensois (three wins and a draw) who started the game with a penalty obtained in the eighth minute. Sole of Pierre Lees-Melou on Morgan Guilavogui and Florian Thauvin decided to take charge of the sentence. The French international, however, lost his duel against Obed Nkambadio.
But the locals continued to move forward and were finally rewarded just after the first quarter of an hour of play with Odsonne Edouard's opener (1-0, 17th). Paris FC did not give up, however, and even managed to equalize ten minutes later through Pierre Lees-Melou (1-1, 27th). At the break, everything remained to be done for both teams.
Lens two points behind the leader
Pushed by their audience, the Northerners ended up getting back in front a second time thanks to Samson Baidoo (2-1, 64th). Florian Thauvin was replaced in the 72nd minute. The former OM clearly showed that he was not happy with the choice of his coach by turning his head from right to left. No scandal, however, and the two men shook hands.
Paris FC may regret having conceded its two goals of the day in set phases, while Lens had the opportunity to add a little more to the score without succeeding. The Sang et Or nevertheless did the right thing in the standings by passing OL, who are only two points behind the Marseille leader. The PFC is equidistant from Europe and the barrage square.
