Ligue 1+, the controversy is growing

There are several ways to take stock of Ligue 1+, after around two months of activity. The first is to note that the editorial work is careful, and that the audiences are quite there, with already more than a million subscribers. This is much more than DAZN, the previous Ligue 1 broadcaster, at the same stage of the season two years ago.

The other aspect, less encouraging, is the sum announced by Nicolas de Tavernost for club finances. “The chain planned to make around 170 million euros in turnover this season”, recently explained the boss of LFP Media.

We are therefore clearly assuming a drop in revenue for the clubs compared to previous periods, which was predictable given the price of the Ligue 1+ subscription and its number of subscribers. However, visibly, some leaders still show disappointment.

Ligue 1+, the leaders knew

“The stupidity of French football leaders will never cease to amaze me”denounced journalist Romain Molina on X. “They knew perfectly well that Ligue 1 + would NEVER be economically viable for the current lifestyle of professional clubs”adds the one who regularly campaigns for clubs to limit their spending.

“And worse still: they no longer have a penny but still prefer to foment plots and political battles for the individual interests of certain people, adds Romain Molina.
It's amazing to be so stupid. »
