Saïd Benrahma is now settled. Having spent a year with OL, the Algerian international is currently playing in Saudi Arabia under the colors of promoted Neom. Before joining France and then the Middle East, the striker played four seasons in the Premier League with West Ham (2020-2024).

If his time in England was sometimes complicated, notably due to tensions with former coach David Moyes, an extra-sporting affair overshadowed his career across the Channel. Benrahma faces two charges related to possessing dangerous dogs, reports The Sun.

Indeed, the facts date back to July 2023, when the Algerian lived in Hornchurch, east London, and regularly walked his two dogs, Ghost and Cali. During one outing, his XL Bully allegedly injured a man named Luke Rehbin, who was also attacked by the player's American Bulldog.

Benrahma receives a heavy sanction

Benrahma was due to enter a plea at Willesden Magistrates' Court in October but failed to appear as he was in Saudi Arabia. His lawyers had requested a postponement, accepted by the court, which tried the case before the criminal court rather than before the criminal court.

On Wednesday, the 30-year-old footballer was finally sentenced. He will have to pay a fine of £12,000 for possessing dangerous dogs, £2,500 in compensation to the owner and £495 in kennel fees, after pleading guilty to both charges, according to The Sun.
