We will have to wait until the November rally and a decisive match against Ukraine to see theFrench team validate its qualification for the 2026 World Cup. A slight ignition delay which does not prevent projections of the event.

After its average performances against Azerbaijan (3-0) and Iceland (2-2), the French team relaunched the debates on its shortcomings in the game. It must be said that Didier Deschamps had to deal with a shower of withdrawals for this October training course.

Didier Deschamps must make strong choices.

Players like Florian Thauvin or Jean-Philippe Mateta, scorers during this rally, took advantage of this massacre to score points. But the face of the selection will not be the same in less than a year.

World Cup: places are expensive in attack

Called upon to compose his own list of attackers, Johan Micoud, consultant for L'Equipe du Soir, revealed the names he would include if he were in Didier Deschamps' place. Unsurprisingly, captain Kylian Mbappé and Ballon d’Or Ousmane Dembélé are present. Other players seem to have a head start on joining the list, such as Parisians Désiré Doué and Bradley Barcola, or playmaker Michael Olise, brilliant with Bayern Munich.

The three other names revealed by Micoud come from further afield: Rayan Cherki (Manchester City), Hugo Ekitike (Liverpool) and Marcus Thuram (Inter Milan). So many candidates subject to broad competition since Florian Thauvin (Lens), Christopher Nkunku (AC Milan), Randal Kolo Muani (Tottenham), Jean-Philippe Mateta (Crystal Palace), Maghnes Akliouche (Monaco) and even Kingsley Coman (Al-Nassr) can legitimately think of the American World Cup. Places will be expensive.
