Joshua Kimmich is getting a little bigger. Friday evening in Sinsheim, the Bayern Munich player made his 104th international selection during Germany's victory against Luxembourg (4-0).
The versatile 30-year-old midfielder thus surpasses the legend Franz Beckenbauer (103 matches with the selection), and joins Per Mertesacker on an equal footing.
Joshua Kimmich had an evening of strong emotions as he scored a double, a first for him with the Germany jersey. He now has 10 goals for the national team.
A pillar of Bayern
The man who made 455 appearances with Bayern Munich (45 goals scored) and his teammates also performed well in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
By defeating Luxembourg, the team led by Julian Nagelsmann took the lead in the group A ranking, ahead of Northern Ireland and Slovakia on goal difference.
