Just over a month before the match between Chelsea and FC Barcelona in the Champions League, Marc Guiu could briefly meet his former club again. Having left Barça in July 2024 for Stamford Bridge, the 19-year-old striker is still struggling to find his place in Enzo Maresca's squad. Sent on loan to Sunderland to gain playing time, he was finally recalled to London to compensate for Liam Delap's injury. During the international break, Guiu returned to his departure in an interview with TV3in which he admits not having felt that the Catalan club was counting on him.

“Honestly, maybe I could have played a little more, but we could already see that the club had other plans. There was Lewandowski and they had just recruited Vitor Roque. It was clear that I had no place there”he explained. The departure of Xavi and the arrival of Hansi Flick also weighed in the balance: “The one time I spoke with Hansi Flick, he just said he wished me luck. » Disappointed at not having received more attention, Guiu decided: “I would have liked the coach to call me, but that wasn’t the case. I finally realized that the situation was not good for me, and I decided to leave. »
