Best goalkeeper in Ligue 1 in 2019, best goalkeeper in Serie A in 2022 as well as in 2023, or even 25th for the Ballon d'Or in 2022, Mike Maignan is one of the most prominent players on the world stage in his position. The Frenchman delights his coach Massimiliano Allegri, who named him captain of AC Milan for this 2025-2026 season, a first for a non-Italian player since 1961.

The former Lille player therefore naturally attracts the attention of the biggest European teams. And this for several years. Last summer, Mike Maignan was even close to joining Chelsea. The transfer did not go through, but this time, the 30-year-old goalkeeper seems determined to leave the Rossoneri.

Milan could even suffer a double whammy in this departure. According to the Gazzetta dello Sport“Magic Mike” would have a very specific plan to join for free one of the club's enemies, the champion of the championship.

Mike Maignan on his way to Juventus

The Italian daily reports that Mike Maignan could move towards Piedmont in the next summer transfer window. He is at least a priority target of the duo Giorgio Chiellini and Damien Comolli, in charge of recruitment at Juventus, in order to potentially compete with current goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio. The Frenchman's recent performance during the confrontation between the Old Lady and Milan last Sunday (0-0) would have reassured the leaders in their desire to attract Maignan.

Discussions for a contract extension for the player trained at PSG are still slipping, despite Massimiliano Allegri's desire to keep his captain. On the other hand, this transfer would be a perfect move for the Bianconeri. It would fit perfectly into the club's policy of recruiting experienced, charismatic players at the end of their contract.
