With less than three weeks until the first Clasico of the season, Barcelona are still uncertain about the availability of Lamine Yamal for the trip to the Santiago Bernabéu.

Following the defeat to Paris Saint-Germain last week, the 18-year-old suffered a relapse of his pubic injury, aggravated during the September international break, and is expected to be out for two to three weeks.

He would therefore arrive just in time to face Real Madrid, even if some doubt his ability to be a 100% starter at the Bernabéu. However, Barcelona are determined to rely on their star striker against their arch-rivals.

According to MD, Barcelona have drawn up a plan for Lamine Yamal, which they believe will have him ready to start for the Clasico. To begin with, the idea would be for him to return for the match against Girona after the international break, and for him to be on the pitch for 30 to 45 minutes in order to “rediscover his competitive feelings and test his physical reactivity”.

Afterwards, Barcelona hope he will start in the Champions League clash against Olympiakos, where he will be on the pitch for 60-70 minutes to improve his accuracy before facing Real Madrid five days later.

Barcelona will also have two other players returning for the Clasico.

Besides Lamine Yamal, Barcelona expect Fermin Lopez and Raphinha to be 100% fit for the Clasico. Both players have also been affected by injuries in recent weeks, but are expected to return against Girona. They could therefore follow a similar plan to start at the Bernabéu.

It's clear that Barcelona need to have their strongest squad possible to take on Real Madrid, in order to build on their momentum from last season's Clasico.
