The police officer responsible for the security of the French team was summoned to a disciplinary council on Tuesday as part of an investigation carried out by the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN), report The World And The New Obs. At issue: a donation of €60,300 received by the officer in June 2023 from Kylian Mbappé, as well as checks for €30,000 paid by the French attacker to four brigadier-chiefs in charge of security the same year. Accused of having “failed in his duty of integrity” and for not having reported to his superiors, the divisional commander, in office since 2004, was finally acquitted and resumed his duties immediately after the hearing.

Administration representatives had wanted to impose early retirement on him, but the unions, which represent half of the council, were unanimously opposed. The file is now in the hands of the General Directorate of National Police (DGPN), which will make its decision in the coming months. Despite some recent changes in the Blues security team, the divisional commander remains stationed at Clairefontaine and should provide security during the next gathering of the French team in November.
