Nine minutes. It's Benjamin Pavard's playing time in the French team since the start of the 2024-2025 season. Coming into play at the end of the game in Italy last November, the former Bayern Munich player was no longer launched on the field by Didier Deschamps.

Remented on the bench during the quarterfinals of the League of Nations against Croatia in March, Benjamin Pavard also remained a spectator during the Final Four, last June. And during the last rally, in September? The hero of France-Argentina 2018 had only had his summons in the package of William Saliba. It was from Clairefontaine that he had finalized his transfer to OM, at the very end of the transfer window.

Despite his good month of September with the Phocaeans, Benjamin Pavard has not become essential in the eyes of Didier Deschamps. For the right side post, the coach continues to prefer Jules Koundé (Barcelona) and Malo Gusto (Chelsea). In the axis, in addition to trio Konaté-Saliba-Upamecano, it is Lucas Hernandez who is summoned for the two meetings of the month of October, in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Benjamin Pavard, good news for OM

For Olympique de Marseille, this is clearly not bad news. Roberto de Zerbi can rely on an international player, and benefit from his experience as well as his level of play, without having the constraints (loaded calendar, absence for selection periods).

Pavard will be able to rest and be fresh for the recovery match, against Le Havre on October 18. He will stay in Marseille … unless a defender undergoes a glitch among the Blues.
