AS Monaco, in search of its first points in this Champions League, presented itself this Wednesday evening against Manchester City with a surprising eleven. Ansu Fati, associated with Akliouche and Balogun in attack, was established by Adi Hütter, already under pressure after an irregular start to the season. The Monegasque team tried to impose their game from the first minutes despite the obvious qualities of its English opponent.

The start of the match was largely dominated by the Citizens. From the 15th minute, Erling Haaland opened the scoring on an easy lob in the surface after a good gap by Gvardiol. Despite this first goal, Monaco reacted immediately. On a remarkable work of Diatta on the left side, Téze equalized with a powerful strike in your skylight (18 '), a bit of hope for the Monegasques.

City resumed the advantage before the break. In the 45th minute, Haaland scored his second goal, taking advantage of a specific center in O'Reilly and placing the ball in the small opposite net. Monaco resisted with courage but suffered the technical and physical mastery of the English in this first half marked by a double of the Norwegian striker, not really in sight.

The second period was more balanced for Monaco, which multiplied the opportunities. Balogun shortly missed the equalization on a corner (55 '), Akliouche found Donnarumma on his way (59'), and Koulibaly did not frame his shot (60 '). However, City regained control of the match with long sequences of possession, limiting Monegasque opportunities. Haaland even came close to the 74th minute, without success against Kohn.

In the last minutes, Monaco intensified the pressure and obtained a penalty after a disputed intervention by Nico on Dier. The Englishman set off and took Donnarumma on the other hand, offering a deserved draw to the ASM (2-2, 90 ') and his first point of the season in the Champions League.
