French clubs will put a little butter in their spinach. At a time when many are dragging a colossal slate for a lot of reason (drop in television rights, consequences of COVVI19 still perceptible, lack of competitiveness on the European scene and therefore recipes at half mast, withdrawal of sponsors and recoil of spectators …), the excellent start of the Ligue1+ platform should ensure them a financial boost.

According to Nicolas de Tavernost, managing director of LFP Mediathe new league channel has generated 158 million euros in turnover, or 142 million after commissions, since its launch. Important figures, while the objective of the million subscribers, set for the end of the season, has already been reached (the league targets precisely 1.15 million by May). This reality will allow us to revise the distribution of TV rights upwards.

Almost doubled endowments, but figures still far from the expectations

According to the newspaper The teamthe endowments should be almost doubled, even if the imbalance between the large and the most modest, is not straightened, and even remains abyssal. Concretely, the Ligue 1 champion could now receive up to 30.1 million euros, against 14.42 million initially planned, while the last in the ranking will see its share of 3.72 million, instead of 1.44 million.

In Ligue 2 too, this news is good. The champion should be able to earn 1.83 million euros instead of 742,000 euros, when the last one will also exceed the million euros bar (€ 1.19 million instead of € 483,000). But obviously, these amounts are still low, especially compared to those of our European neighbors. The reason? The fall in domestic rights. Last season, the champion received 19 million euros, and the forecast is 12 this year after The team. The last in Ligue 1 will collect 3.72 million euros against 6 in 2024/2025.
