AC Milan Massimiliano Allegri version impresses on this start to the season, and it is not possible to say. Leader of Serie has since Sunday evening and a fall of the Napoli of Antonio Conte, which has always been undefeated for months, the Lombard club relies on a solid frame and a united collective, a few days to face Juventus in the league. If some players capture light with their flamboyant statistics and their golden status like Christian Pulisic in particular, others work in the shadows to give this team its balance. This is the case of Youssouf Fofana, an indisputable holder and the most used field player since the start of the season. With already a goal and two assists, the French environment demonstrates that it also knows how to weigh offensively, but it is especially by its slaughter and its intelligence of placement that the native of the 19th arrondissement of Paris makes the difference.

Indeed, his regularity chained week after week gives AC Milan a rare stability in the middle, a base on which Allegri built his successes, articulated around his 3-5-2 flat which he already exploited at Juventus. Despite an eventful transfer window in the directions, the Italian coach had not forgotten to give several objectives to the already present executives such as Youssouf Fofana: “They will have to score at least 15 goals in their two, this is a goal that I set for them and to which I want”launched Massimiliano Allegri at the start of the season at Youssouf Fofana and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. In the Milanese midfield, Fofana forms a deluxe trio with Adrien Rabiot and Luka Modrić. The two stars often shine by their aura and their vista, but rely on the incessant activity of the former Monegasque to take the initiative in the game. This growing status, Fofana did not receive it by default.

The perfect environment alongside Rabiot-Modric

This summer, Milan nevertheless invested heavily in Samuele Ricci (€ 23 million), supposed to become the new boss of the community. But the former Monegasque was able to overshadow the Italian recruit thanks to constant and convincing performance. He also took advantage of the serious injury of Ardon Jashari (€ 36 million), who also had to fight for a place in the Milanese axis. This double circumstance allowed Fofana to win permanently and confirm that he was ready to take a course in his career: “Now, I have to score these 10 goals, I work every week to achieve this goal, I hope to succeed in this goal very soon. I am comfortable wherever the coach places me (laughs, editor's note). Joking aside, I prefer to play lower, but with the ability to attack. Now, I'm a little higher at the start of the match, but I have to work to be more ready to receive each ball in the last 25 meters to make the difference. I don't know yet, this is only my second goal and I want to put ten by the end of the season. I hope I could score a lot, because the coach asked us more, from Loftus and me. We are a good team, and we hope Loftus and I will reach the goals requested by Allegri as soon as possibleSaid the old AS Monaco community.

Despite a complicated last season, a complicated Milanese, concluded far from the European places and marked by several coach changes, the number 19 of the Rossoneri had finished best passer in the club with nine offerings. A sign that its contribution is sustainable and is part of continuity. Nine months from the World Cup, Youssouf Fofana may well be one of the surprises of the next list of Didier Deschamps, expected on Thursday, to face Azerbaijan and Iceland. The French coach carefully follows the progression of the Milanese environment. In a context where several Blues executives are absent, the former Monegasque has a major card to play to convince the tricolor staff. And it is the others who talk about it best: “I know Mike well, we know each other well. We grew up at the PSG training center, especially with Nkunku. We know each other with Youssouf (Fofana, Editor's note), which often plays in the national team. We have a good relationship, we discussed. Mike told us about Milan, a large family. It is important for us, the players, to feel like at home“Said his compatriot and teammate Adrien Rabiot in early September. Like the beautiful dynamic of Milan, Youssouf Fofana is in full ascent. Discreet in the light, but essential in the shadows, he is one of the major craftsmen of the Rossoneri Renaissance and could soon be rewarded on the international scene.
