Jack Grealish has revealed there will be no boozy celebrations for him and his Manchester City team-mates after winning the UEFA Super Cup in Athens.
Jack Grealish has revealed that Pep Guardiola banned his Manchester City players from over-celebrating after their UEFA Super Cup victory over Sevilla on penalties. Grealish and his teammates flew to Ibiza immediately after winning the Champions League, before a wild parade. The England winger continued to party throughout the summer. But as the champions face Newcastle on Saturday, City will have to tone down their celebrations.
” We have another game in… what day is it? Three days. We recover, then we go back to the Premier League”.
Grealish also said Guardiola made it clear to the players that the Super Cup was not an exhibition game and made them realize the importance of winning it in order to flesh out City’s record.
” The manager has made it clear how much he wants Man City to win this trophy… You can see what that means now”, added Grealish. ” This club has been so successful and it’s a trophy we’ve been waiting for ever since we won the Champions League.
