Liverpool has shown great generosity by paying all of Diogo Jota's salary to his family after the tragic accident that cost him life in July. Arne Slot, Dutch Reds coach, told TNT SPORTS That the club had honored Jota's contract until 2027, around 15.5 million euros, towards its widow Rute Cardoso and their children. For slot, this gesture goes beyond the simple contractual obligation: “Maybe people think it's normal, but that is not in football”he underlined, highlighting the human and united dimension of the club.

Beyond the financial aspect, Slot also mentioned the incredible mobilization of supporters and players around the memory of Diogo Jota. Tributes regularly flourish in Anfield and when traveling, especially in the 20th minute of each match in reference to its jersey number. “It's incredible what our fans have done. And our players too, the way they behaved on the sidelines of the funeral ”he added, while recognizing the difficulty of continuing to prepare the meetings while mourning still deeply affects the family and the whole city of Liverpool.
