Atlético de Madrid has once again failed to drink the cup. But this Wednesday evening, Diego Simeone's team was able to count on a Julian Alvarez on fire. One of the few satisfactions of the start of the season failed by the Colchoneros came out of his box three times to allow his family to win against Rayo Vallecano (3-2, 6th day of Liga).

It was he who opened the brand in the quarter of an hour on a pass from Marcos Llorente (1-0), but just before returning to the locker room, Pep Chavarria cooled the Metropolitano Stadium by equalizing for visitors (1-1, 45th+1). A first annoyance followed by a much more problematic second with a second goal from the Rayo scored by Alvaro Garcia, after a perfect counter (1-2, 78th).

Was Atlético once again to disappoint its supporters? It was clearly not the wish of a Julian Alvarez who did not give his teammates in Gamberger time, with an equalization validated two minutes later (2-2, 80th). And the Chelsea former festival did not stop there since it found the fault a third time.

Atlético wins before real

A shot jewelred the left that ended in the skylight of the opposing cage (3-2, 88th). Enough to ignite for good the spans of the Metropolitano. After seven minutes of additional time largely dominated by its players, Atlético has ratified what is only its second victory of the season in Liga after six days.

But this success is oh so important for the Colchoneros who are gradually retaining the European squares. Here they are now eighth, at a point of Getafe (6th). Saturday (4:15 p.m.), the opponent will be of a completely different caliber since Atlético will continue with a new Madrid derby, but against Real Madrid, current Liga leader.
