D -day! OM receives PSG at the Vélodrome to close the 5th day of Ligue 1. Originally scheduled for Sunday evening, the classic was postponed to this Monday 8 p.m., a decision that turned the Marseille club plans.
Consequently, Olympique de Marseille will not leave this week in Italy for its planned internship. This “Ritiro”, mixing training, collective workshops and moments of cohesion, was canceled by the management which specified the reasons in an official press release, while the group was to fly today to Rome.
“With still unstable weather conditions and no guarantee of being able to travel following the meeting, it was decided to definitively cancel this internship”indicates the club. The uncertainty around the classical unfolding was therefore right for the trip.
A first successful act
This cancellation comes despite the success of the cohesion internship organized last season in Rome. In April, before the final sprint of Ligue 1, Roberto de Zerbi and his players went to Italy to prepare the last games far from the sometimes heavy atmosphere of Marseille.
The stay had borne fruit, OM finishing second in the championship with three victories (Brest, Le Havre, Rennes) and a draw (Lille) in the last four days. This year, the club will have to find other solutions to strengthen team spirit.
