Earlier this summer, Luka Modric turned down a hugely lucrative contract offer from Saudi Arabia to stay at Real Madrid.
Luka Modric recently signed a new contract with Real, although Carlo Ancelotti has forced him into a back-up role.
As reported MD, Modric is far from happy with his current position in the Real Madrid first team. The 37-year-old was a regular starter last season and he expected to play a similar role this year, but it looks like that won’t be the case.
Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham are all ahead of Modric in the pecking order, and he was only on the pitch for a few minutes in Real Madrid’s win over Athletic Club on Saturday.
Ancelotti is clearly keen to use his young players at this stage, with Modric and Toni Kroos reduced to substitute roles. The dissatisfaction of the first could, however, change the situation in the coming weeks.
