The Blues very close to the disaster!

The French vice-champion vice-champion team is already getting closer to the qualification for the 2026 World Cup, but it was laborious … Winners of Ukraine (0-2) last Friday, the Blues came to the end of Iceland (2-1), Tuesday evening at the Parc des Princes, during their second meeting of the qualifiers. Already a scorer against the Ukrainians, Kylian Mbappé has further improved his statistics and his 52nd goal allows him to double Thierry Henry.

Didier Deschamps' men never ignited the lair of PSG like the team led by Luis Enrique. The fault of Icelanders well in place who have completely opened the scoring in Parisian lands! Michael Olise, in his own surface, literally offered the opening of the score to Andri Gudjohnsen (21st). The latter, son of Eidur, was associated with his little brother in attack, Daníel Gudjohnsen!

Faced with a very low block, the EDF was able to count in particular on the size of Marcus Thuram, aligned left winger but most of the time in contact with the Icelandic central. The Inter player made the opposing goalkeeper shine, Elias Olafsson (32nd), but obtained a penalty by being broke. His captain, the “Kyks” transformed the sentence to put the two teams tied at halftime (45th).

The Blues saved by the Var

The second period was even less exciting and for good reason. France therefore took the advantage and Mbappé this time turned into a decisive passer. On an opening by Aurélien Tchouameni for Bradley Barcola, Mbappé spun at the goal and served Barcola on a plateau (62nd). In the process, this same tchouameni was excluded for a violent tackle (67th) and the Blues finished the meeting at 10, in 4-4-1 with an Adrien Rabiot launched in the middle (60th) and whistled for the occasion.

The French then escaped the worst, namely an Icelandic equalization which would have left the two teams tied in the ranking. Andri Gudjohnsen took over a center in two stages to beat Mike Maignan and equalize in the 88th minute of the meeting! The video referee then detected a striker's jersey draw on Dayot Upamecano and the Central canceled the realization. A huge relief to Didier Deschamps and his players, who will have to be stronger during the trip to Iceland on October 13.
