The legend of the French team Jean Tigana but also Mathieu Valbuena and Didier Six are no longer part of the top 50 of the most caught players in the history of the Blues.

Admittedly, we are very far from the centenarians of the French team that are Hugo Lloris (145), Lilian Thuram (142), Antoine Griezmann (137), Olivier Giroud (137), Thierry Henry (123), Marcel Desailly (116), Zinedine Zidane (108), Patrick Vieira (107) (103). But current players of the Blues have entered the top 50 of the most capped players in the selection in recent months: Ousmane Dembélé (57), Benjamin Pavard (55) and Adrien Rabiot (54). All this, at the expense of a certain Jean Tigana.

Friday evening during the victory of Kylian Mbappé and his teammates against Ukraine (0-2), a player became the most capped 49th in the history of the EDF equally with Christian Karembeu: Lucas Digne celebrated his 53rd appearance on the international scene, he who is the current left lateral holder holder of “The Dèche” Al-Hilal player, Saudi Arabia).

Before this rally, Digne was equal to Tigana, 52 selections from 1980 to 1988. The Aston Villa player therefore erased tablets a sacred legend of the Blues, an emblematic defensive midfielder of the Platini generation, with two World Cup semi-finals and a coronation at Euro 84 in the charts.

After Tigana, Dugarry and Papin threatened

Didier Six, International from 1976 to 1984 and also Euro 84 champion, as well as Mathieu Valbuena, master of the Blues from 2010 to 2015 (until the case of his sextape), also have 52 capes. They will now remain at the gates of the top 50.

Two French internationals approach the first 50. These are the Girondin friends Jules Koundé and Aurélien Tchouameni, who competed for their 43rd and 42nd meeting under the blue tunic respectively. Patrick Battiston (56 selections), Christophe Dugarry (55), Jean-Pierre Papin (54) and therefore Christian Karembeu (53) will be the next to get out of the Troop top 50. Mike Maignan is 33 matches with the French team and can also hope to exceed the 50 mark.
