Véronique Rabiot, the dirty blow to OM

Adrien Rabiot will no longer wear the Marseille jersey. The midfielder left OM in the last hours of the transfer window to reach AC Milan against 15 million euros. An unexpected outcome for the one who hitherto embodied the Marseille ambition to play the leading roles in the Champions League, after a successful first season under the orders of Roberto de Zerbi.

However, these last two weeks have changed everything. Rabiot hung on a violently with Jonathan Rowe in the locker room after the defeat in Rennes (1-0), an incident that led to his sidelining, just like that of his teammate. A behavior deemed unacceptable by the leaders, while the former Parisian was previously presented as an exemplary framework. The climate quickly got away and the rupture became inevitable.

In this case, OM also had to deal with a contract skillfully featured by Véronique Rabiot, mother and representative of the player. The agreement signed last summer provided that the family recovers 30 % of the amount of a future transfer, reveals Provence. Faced with this clause on the sidelines of the transfer of tricolor in Lombardy, the Olympian club tried to obtain a gesture by requesting a revision of the percentage. But the answer was categorical: no concession.

The CLUSE that is expensive

Result: out of the 15 million euros paid by AC Milan, only 10 million will go to the Marseille funds, the rest falling directly in the pocket of the Rabiot family, specifies the daily. A decision that goes wrong with commandery, where relations with the entourage of the player have deteriorated significantly in recent days.

On the sporting level, the loss is immense for De Zerbi, whose middle had already sunk against OL last Sunday. Place now for upcoming deadlines, with a perilous trip to Bernabéu on September 16 for the opening of the Champions League, before receiving PSG on the 21st for the first classic of the season.
