Sunday evening, FC Barcelona launched its La Liga season against Getafe (0-0). At the end of a choppy meeting, marked by a lot (probably too much) aggressiveness, the Blaugranas already lost two points against a good opponent in the championship. Two expulsions, including one on each side, and now the first debates are heated about arbitration. Starting with Xavi, who strongly criticized the performance of Cesar Soto Grado, at the whistle of this first day. “I don’t see any hands anywhere. If there’s no clear hand, don’t whistle, that’s what they told us. The referee invented the hand. It’s like that”says the Catalan coach after the referee whistled a hand from Gavi, when Barça could have had a penalty.
He added : “if we sell the LaLiga product and we have that, it doesn’t help anyone… It’s an accumulation of things, they let them play, they whistle against us… (…) It’s normal that people don’t want anymore watch football. Today’s product is a disgrace.” Expelled, too, Xavi explains at the microphone of DAZN the reasons for an undeserved red card according to him: “I told him they allowed a lot of fouls to them but not to us and that’s why he sent me off. The other day we had a meeting with the referees and as the first change in the rules, they told us that they were going to understand the coaches better, because we are tense and they understood that we were in competition. That’s not what happened today. But my expulsion does not matter.. Barely a day and La Liga is already talking about it, badly. Not enough to highlight a Spanish championship that has been in decline for several years…
