The transfer of Zinedine Zidane from Juventus Turin to Real Madrid in 2001, for 75 million euros, had allowed Fred Hermel to become a sports correspondent for RMC radio. Most of the interviews given by the 1998 Ballon d'Or in France will have been carried out by him.
