No smooth recovery on the Premier League side. This is the shock of this first day in England: Chelsea receives Liverpool. Last season, the two clubs had a disappointing season on the European level but especially in the league. The Blues had finished twelfth while the Reds missed out on the top four by finishing fifth. During the summer transfer window, the two teams strengthened themselves by recruiting several players and are therefore eagerly awaited for this new season. The meeting can be followed live with commentary on French Football Weekly from 5.30 p.m.

For this first match, Mauricio Pochettino throws three rookies into the deep end: Sanchez to keep goal, Disasi in the three-man defense alongside Silva and Colwill, back from loan, and finally Jackson on the attacking front with Sterling’s support. Opposite, Jurgen Klopp trusts two of his recruits: Mac Allister and Szoboszlai in the midfield. The German technician lines up four attacking players from the start with Gakpo, Luis Diaz, Salah and finally Diogo Jota. French international Konaté starts in central defense alongside Van Dijk.

Team compositions:

Chelsea: Sanchez – Disasi, Silva, Colwill – James, Gallagher, Fernandez, Chukwuemeka, Chilwell – Sterling, Jackson

Liverpool: Alisson – Alexander-Arnold, Konaté, Van Dijk, Robertson – Szoboszlai, Mac Allister – Salah, Jota, Gakpo, Diaz
